You must start the race on the tires on which you qualified. PLM teams may have two spare (not new) tires only to be used for approved flats in their pit stall during the race. An Official on pit road must approve a tire change before the flat tire is removed from the car. No tire may go into any trailer. All tires must remain outside in plain view!
Qualifying Procedures: Qualifying procedures will consist of two complete warm up laps and two consecutive laps for qualifying. Once you take the green flag that is your only attempt to qualify. The qualifying order will be the reverse order on the date of Paid Entries. If you do not qualify in your proper position, you will only receive two warm up laps and one qualifying lap. (All SLM qualifying tires must be returned back to impound after teams make the starting field on Saturday) SLM and PLM Starting Field: 1-24 from Qualifying…. 25-30 from last chance race.
Race Procedures:
Initial Start and Re-Starts: Initial start will take place at the line in turn 4. On re-starts the leader may fire anytime between the lines in turn 3 and the line in turn 4. There will be no passing to the left until you get to the finish line. Anyone jumping the starts will be sent to the rear. Re-starts will be single file.
Yellow Flag: SLM race laps 1-100 Caution Laps Count (only the first 5 laps will count), 101-250 Green Flag Laps only. PLM race 125 green flag only. No racing back to the caution. We will revert back to the last completed lap for the restart line-up. Once the White Flag has been displayed and a caution situation rises, we will be racing back to the checkered flag. The yellow light and yellow flag will be displayed along with the green light and white flag to let teams know there is a situation on the track, but the next lap will be the finish of the race at the checkered flag. (If a red flag comes out then it will be a green- white - checkered) You cannot lose a lap under caution.
Cars Involved in the Caution: Cars directly involved in bringing out the caution will go to the tail end of the field. Cars that spin or stop but not directly involved may get their spots back unless they go down pit road.
Red Flag: All cars must stop as quickly and safely as possible when the red flag is displayed. Drivers may go to pit road during a red flag but will re-start at the tail end of the field.
Pitting Procedures: Pace car will collect the field in turn 2, pits are closed. Follow pace car to finish line (Flag Stand). Lead cars that are pitting can double up at the finish line. Second time by, lapped cars can pit. Cars that are not pitting must stay high and give room to cars that are pitting. If a quick caution is called both lead lap cars and lapped cars may pit as soon as pit road is open. If you pit out of order or enter the pits when closed, restart at the tail end of the field. The pace car will designate the pit road speed for cars on pit road, both entering and exiting. Cars may not pass the pace car unless directed to do so by Race Control.
Lucky Dog: The 1st car behind the leader 1 lap down will be deemed to be the Lucky Dog as long as he/she is not the cause of the yellow. The car receiving the Lucky Dog, when notified will pull out and drop back and re-start at the tail end of the field (instead of passing the pace car). The Scoring Official in the tower will add a lap to the car receiving the Lucky Dog and the spotter for the car will be notified. The Lucky dog will not be given in the last 10 laps of the race. Also, any cars behind the pace car that are on the tail end of a lap will be given a wave-by until the leader is the first car behind the pace car.
Penalties: If you stop on the racing surface to purposely bring out a caution, you will receive a 1 lap penalty. 3 unassisted spins and you will be disqualified for the remainder of the event. Lapped cars that create problems for lead lap cars may be penalized, lap cars should allow the leaders to go by on the outside and then resume racing. You may not spin the leader on the last lap to win the race (race control may place the offender to the tail of the lead lap cars in the final race results).
Spotters: Spotters must be in designated spotter stand during the race. Spotters must have the ability to listen to Race Control.
Post Race: The top 5 finishers must go to the front-stretch immediately after the completion of the race.
